Jerry A. “Butch” Jones Obituary

Aug 10, 1948 - Nov 24, 2013

This obituary is administered by:
ATLANTA, GA - Jerry A. “Butch” Jones, 65, passed away at his home on Sunday, November 24, 2013. Jerry was born on August 10, 1948 in Racine, WI to Jerry and Benella (nee: Leisure) Jones. He graduated from Washington Park High School and proudly served his country with the U S Army in Vietnam, earning several medals. Upon returning to Racine, he met his “soul mate” of 39 years, the former Doris Ingram. Jerry loved and supported his family. To them he was lovingly called “Butch or Uncle Butch.” It was nothing for him to drive hundreds of miles to watch a game or attend a special event that they were participating in. If you needed something done, just mentioning it to him in a conversation could result in him resolving the issue for you without you even asking. Jerry was a quiet man with many talents and interests. After his retirement, he spent many hours taking his yard from an empty canvas to a place of beauty and serenity. He loved football, basketball and occasionally could be caught watching a golf tournament. Jerry is survived by his wife, Doris; children, Malcolm (Rosa) Griffin of Spring Valley, CA, Tracey Griffin of Union City, GA and Andre Jones of Racine. His grandchildren; Tevin Jones, Kaydence Jones, Mikayla Griffin, Ali and Omar Bahour; his father, Jerry Jones of Racine; five sisters; Sandra Trott of Racine, Karen (Bill) Myers of Newnan, GA, Linda (Donnie) Freeman of Fisher, IN, Brenda (Floyd) Theus of Newnan, GA, and Corliss Sosniak of Pasadena, CA; brother, Bradley Jones of Racine and a brother by choice, Charles Julks of Oviedo, FL, as well as many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members and friends. Jerry was preceded in death by his mother, brothers; Keith Lane, and Gregory Jones. In keeping with Jerry’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of his life will be held in Atlanta at a later date. The family would like to thank you for your cards, phone calls, facebook posts and continuous prayers during our time of sorrow.
