Jerry Johnson was born on July 30, 1950, and passed away on May 18, 2025, in Boston, Massachusetts. Jerry leaves behind his beloved Doretha, whom he married in 1974. Together, they had two children, April (T. J.) and Kareem.
Jerry was the son of the late Maurice Wildy Sr. and MaeBelle Johnson of Saint Helena Island, South Carolina and spent some of his high school days in SC before moving to Boston with his mother.
He was a dedicated employee. When Jerry entered the workforce, he worked for Boston Naval Shipyard for a few years before finding a career at Raytheon as an electric systems coiler. Despite his busy schedule Jerry enjoyed spending time with his family and watching western TV shows like The Rifleman, Gunsmoke and Wagon Train and retired in 2012.
Big J, as most called him, is survived by his wife, daughter & son and undoubtedly leaves everlasting love & memories for his brother Charles (Shirley) and his only grandson Anthony. He also leaves devoted love for his aunt Helen (David) Brown-Capers, nephews, a host of cousins, friends and co-workers who loved him dearly.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend a graveside service at New Calvary Cemetery, 800 Harvard Street, Boston, on Thursday May 22nd at 11 AM.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
