South Bend Bain-Conkin, Jeffrey L.,36, unexpectedly passed away at 4 p.m. in his home, on Friday, September 8, 2017. Jeff was currently employed by the University of Notre Dame in the IT Department and as an adjunct professor. He was born on January 9, 1981, in Louisville and has lived in South Bend since coming to graduate school in 2005.On December 2, 2006, Jeff married Kelly E. Bain-Conkin at George W. Truett Theological Seminary in Waco, TX. Jeff is survived by his wife and two sons, Asher and Carter "Artie" Bain-Conkin; parents, Mike and Pam Conkin of Louisville, KY; mother- and father-in-law, David and Pat Bain of Texarkana, TX; brother, Charles (Michelle Stokes) Conkin of Lexington, KY; and sister, Sarah (James) Conkin-Anderson of Athens, GA.Memorial services will be held at 6 p.m. on Thursday, September 14, 2017, at Church of the Savior, 1855 N. Hickory Road, South Bend, IN 46635. Friends may gather with the family for visitation from 2:00-5:00 p.m. on Thursday, at Palmer Funeral Home-Hickey Chapel, 17131 Cleveland Road, South Bend, IN.Jeff received a Master of Divinity from Truett Seminary at Baylor University and a Doctor of Philosophy in American History from the University of Notre Dame. He was an Elder and member of Church of the Savior. Memorial contributions in memory of Jeff may be made to the Bain-Conkin Children's Fund for Asher and Artie.
