We are saddened to announce the passing of Jeffrey Neal “Bear” Berry, who left this world on July 12, 2025. Born on December 11, 1962, in Lancaster, New Hampshire, Jeff was the beloved son of Hartley Hatt and Barbara Adeline.
Jeff, or Bear as he was affectionately known, lived a full and vibrant life. He studied at White Mountain Regional High School and graduated in 1980. Jeff worked tirelessly for over 30 years at FB Spaulding before joining the State of New Hampshire Highway Department for the past 6 years.
Bear had a heart of gold and a passion for helping others. He dedicated his time to supporting the Groveton High School girls' basketball team, cheering them on at every game. He also had a love for Riverside Speedway and could often be found there on the weekends.
In his spare time, Bear enjoyed teaching children how to ride horses and was actively involved in the 4-H program. He competed in horse shows and proudly displayed his collection of trophies. In his younger years, Jeff was a member of the Lancaster Fire Department, always willing to lend a helping hand.
Despite not having any biological children of his own he had many children who he took under his wing and adopted as his own children, Jeff found love and companionship with his partner, Melissa McCabe. Together, they shared many happy moments and cherished memories.

Memorial calling hours will be held on Saturday, July 26, 2025, from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm at the Armstrong-Charron Funeral Home, 100 State St., Groveton. A funeral service will follow at 5:00 pm at the funeral home.
Jeffrey Neal “Bear” Berry will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His infectious laughter and kind spirit will live on in our hearts forever. Rest in peace, Bear.
