HALL, JEAN KATHRYN, 91 Ocala - Dr. Jean Kathryn Hall (nee Dorries), 91, passed away in Ocala, Florida on June 17, 2016. She was born on November 9, 1924 in Harrisburg, Illinois. the elder daughter of Robert Dorries and Ethel Rowan Dorries Kuehn. She is survived by one daughter, Helen Hall, of Ocala, FL. Jean married Gilbert Edward Hall on December 22, 1945 and they were married for 63 years before his death in 2009. Dr. Hall received her Bachelors, Masters, Specialist Certificate and Doctorate from Southern Illinois University, both Carbondale and Edwardsville. In 1956, she began working for the Granite City, IL, Community School District as a teacher and administrator. In 1974, she was recognized as an Outstanding Teacher in The Nation and in 1978, was in the World Who's Who of Women. She also taught as McKendree College and Southern Illinois University and worked for the Illinois Superintendent of Public Instruction. Jean was a member and president of Delta Kappa Gamma and Phi Delta Kappa educational organizations. After retiring in 1988, Jean and Gilbert moved to Ocala, FL. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Ocala. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Sunday, October 30, 2016 at 1 PM at Ocala Palms Country Club. Burial will be at Bushnell National Cemetery on November 14, 2016.
