Mission - Mr. Javier Ponce Gutierrez went to be with our Lord on Sunday December 4, 2016 in Edinburg surrounded by his family. He was born on Feb.18, 1956 in Mexico to Panfilo and Amalia Gutierrez Ponce. Javier worked as a machinist with GE for almost 30 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister Alma Flores.He was raised in Chicago,IL and Houston,TX before making Mission,TX his home to raise his family. He was an avid boxing fan and enjoyed carpentry work as a pass time. He loved bar-b-ques, music and laughter with his friends and family. A loving husband, father, grandfather Javier will be dearly missed and will forever be remembered in our hearts.Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife Nora Elia Mancilla Ponce; his children Saul Trevino (Veronica), Gabriela Ponce (Eliazar), Luis Ponce, Alma Ponce-Garate (Esequiel), Claudia Ponce (Rogelio), Javier Eduardo Ponce (Thalia), and Gerardo Jose Ponce; 14 grandchildren; one brother Gerardo Ponce, four sisters Maria X. Ponce Limon (Jesus) Juanita and Amelia Ponce and Dora Cerda (Raul). Visitation will be on Wednesday Dec.7, 2016 at Rivera Funeral Homes,1901 Pecan Blvd.in McAllen from 1:00 PM to 9:00 PM with the rosary being prayed at 7:00 PM. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday Dec.8, 2016 at 1:00 PM at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Mission. Interment will follow at Valley Memorial Cemetery in Mission.Funeral services are under the direction of Rivera Funeral Homes of McAllen.
