Janet Ellen HammerZANESVILLE: Janet Ellen Hammer, 68, of Zanesville passed away peacefully at her home at 1:47 PM Saturday March 12, 2016, surrounded by her family. She was born on April 25, 1947 in McConnelsville, the daughter of Herman and Vera (Dennis) Smith. A wife of 47 years, mother, grandmother to eight grandchildren. She was a nurse for 47 years at Good Samaritan Hospital and the last ten years at OSU Medical Center. Janet had her Master's Degree in nursing and taught nursing at OUZ.She is survived by her husband of 47 years, David L. Hammer; three children, Heidi (Mike) Hardbarger, Chad Hammer, and Holly Hammer; eight grandchildren, all girls, Cassidy, Caylen, Callie, Kierston, Kylee, Kyndall, Gabbi, and Maddi.Janet was preceded in death by her parents, Herman and Vera Smith; brother, Tom Smith; and sister, Brenda Smith; her grandparents, George Otto Dennis and Mamie Dennis.Friends and Family may call from 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Tuesday March 15, 2016 at THE SNOUFFER FUNERAL HOME 1150 West Military Road.
