Jamesetta Leathers, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away on June 1, 2025, in her home in Canton, Ohio, at the age of 77.

She was born on January 26, 1948, to parents James Mathews and Ovila Ransom in Canton, Ohio. Jamesetta was survived by her loving partner, Donald Leathers, and her five children: son Troy (Brenda) Griffin, daughters Shawntay “Candy” Pratchett, Donette Leathers, Domonique (Raymond) Jackson, and Miracle Leathers.

Jamesetta was a dedicated mother who cherished her role in raising her children. She was a loving grandmother to her grandchildren Jerald Lucas Jr., Markeisha Griffin, Allay Lucas, Shartez Gordon, Shanise (Khris) Conley, Satyn Gordon, Briante Freeman, Devante Troupe, Destinee Cone, Mikayla Everly, Makiya Leathers-everly , Malaya Leathers-Everly , Arihanna Donald, Rodney Donald, Jr., Tiahna Griffin, Tiehra Griffin, Jordan Griffin, and Kennedy Parker; along with 36 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends., who will always remember her warmth and kindness.

Jamesetta attended McKinley Senator High School where she excelled academically and made lifelong friendships. She will be remembered as a devoted wife, a caring mother, and a doting grandmother who touched the lives of all who knew her.

She will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
