Wainacht, JamesJames W. Wainacht, age 73 of Glen Spey, NY , formerly of New Canaan, CT, passed away Jan. 18, 2017 at Bon Secours Community Hospital, Port Jervis, NY. He was born on April 19, 1943 in Norwalk, CT, the son of the late Andrew and Theresa Hornyak Wainacht. He proudly served our country during the Cuban Missile Crisis with the US Marines. Jim was retired as a Lieutenant from the New Canaan Police Dept. after many years of dedicated service. He was a member of the New Canaan PBA, a life member of VFW Post #653, New Canaan, and a member of the Knights of Columbus, Council #2287 in New Canaan. James was married to Marsha Weed Wainacht who predeceased him. He is survived by his son Richard Wainacht and his daughter Deborah Wainacht, both of Glen Spey, and his brother Andrew Wainacht and his wife Sharon of Darien, as well as several nieces and nephews. A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, Feb. 18, 2017 at Noon at St. Aloysius Church, Cherry St., New Canaan, CT. Interment will follow in Lakeview Cemetery.
