James NicholAnderson, SCJames Richard Nichol, 81, of Bloomfield Hills, passed away with family at his side on Oct. 30th, 2017. He was predeceased by his best friend and loving wife of 53 years, Penelope Ann Nichol, and his sister, Dolores James of San Diego.Jim was born on Dec. 13th, 1935, in Chicago, Illinois, to the late John Nichol and Marguerite Whittingham Nichol. He attended Calumet High School in Chicago, where he met and later married his high school sweetheart. A proud Engineering graduate of Purdue University, he led a successful career as Vice President of the Coon de Vissor Company, in Madison Heights. He was admired and well respected in the field of compressor engineering products. After raising their kids, Jim and Penny moved from Birmingham, Mi. to South Carolina for retirement, and enjoyed the southern hospitality of Keowee Key. Along with making wonderful new friends, they became very active in numerous charitable causes.Family came first for Jim as he loved spending time with his children, Deb (Gary) Roberts, Tracey (Mark) Menczer, Doug Nichol, Brad (Jessica) Nichol and his 6 adoring grandchildren, Ben, Tara, Arthur, Jordan, Lance and Zoe. Jim loved the game of golf (achieving Two Holes In 1) and never passed up an opportunity to take friends and family out on his boat. He truly enjoyed seeing people have a good time and was someone whom everyone loved being around. He was an incredible husband, father, grandfather and friend.
