James Carraway, beloved husband of Clementine Carraway, loving father of Juanita, Quarla, Dewitt, Ameka, Tyris, Sandarian, Timarcus, Million, Rujon, and Tierra, passed away peacefully on May 11, 2024, at the age of 90, at his home in Kinston, North Carolina.

James was born on March 4, 1934, to his parents Herman Carraway Sr. and Almenter Parks Carraway. He was a proud graduate of Lenoir County Public School high school and went on to work at the Austin Carolina Tobacco Company.

In his free time, James enjoyed fishing and was a master BBQ pig cooker. He loved spending time with his family and friends, creating memories that will last a lifetime.

James will be greatly missed by all who knew him, but his memory will forever live on in the hearts of his children, grandchildren, and many others who were lucky enough to have known him.

Rest in peace, James Carraway. May your BBQs always be perfectly cooked and your fishing spots always be full of fish.
