James was given to Sam and Mary Dorsey on December 29, 1969. He answered a call from Heaven on Saturday, October 21, 2017, at  Lane Memorial  Hospital.

Baptized at an early age, James made sure he understood God's plan for his life.  He received his education from St. Augustine in  New Orleans, LA in 1987. James worked in factories for many years and was a truck driver until his death.  

He will forever be remembered by his loving parents, Sam and Mary Dorsey; daughter, Tamra Edwards; son, Jamel Dorsey; brothers, Ronny Dorsey and Trey Dorsey; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Vira Bridgewater; uncle Melva Jackson, and aunt Joyce Kinchen.
