Solemn Obituary

James Vanzant, beloved father, husband, and dedicated member of the United States Army, passed away on July 15, 2023, at his residence in Canton, Ohio. He was born on May 29, 1950, to Julius Vanzant and Addie West, both of whom have already departed this world.

James was a loving and devoted spouse to Maya Ruffin, having been married since the year 18. Together, they created a beautiful family that included three children: Jamesia Ruffin, LaKeisha Vanzant, and an unnamed child. With immense pride, James was not only a dedicated father but also a cherished grandfather to nine grandchildren, whose names shall remain unspoken.

His unwavering dedication and service in the United States Army earned James the rank of Sergeant. He bravely served his country, showing unwavering commitment to protecting and serving others.

It is with great sadness that we announce James's passing due to a stroke. This unexpected tragedy has left his loved ones and community in a deep state of mourning. In his honorable life, he touched the hearts of many, always carried himself with integrity and kind-heartedness, and was respected by all who knew him.
