James W. Adams 1947 - 2016 James W. Adams, 69, a resident of Somers, passed away on Wednesday Aug. 17, 2016, at St. Catherine's Medical Center in Pleasant Prairie. Jim was born on May 17, 1947, in Philadelphia to Charles and Eula Marie (Pendergrass) Wilkerson. He was educated in the schools of Florida and attended the University of Maryland. On Feb. 22, 1969, he was united in marriage with Carmel McKenna in Arlington, Va. James served nine years in the U.S. Army, serving two years in Vietnam and two and a half years in Germany. He was a life member of the VFW and rose to the rank of Junior Vice Commander. He was a Cootie member and a member of the Voiture 890 and Past Chef de Gare. He was involved in American Legion Post 142, and moved up through all the positions to be two time Commander. Jim was also a past 9th District Commander in Broward County Florida and Assistant Sergeant at Arms for the department in Florida. Jim and Carmel made their home in Florida for 31 years. He was self employed and worked at Central Air Conditioning in Pompano Beach. They relocated to Wisconsin in 2005. Always the joker, Jim loved golfing, bowling and fishing. He was a Miami Dolphins and Milwaukee Brewers fan and was known as an excellent dancer. Surviving James is his loving wife Carmel of Somers, and his children James (Amy) Cole of Kenosha, Laura Adams of Somers and Sean (Jacqueline Dealca-Adams) Adams of New York. He is further survived by his grandchildren, Ashley, Siobhan, Amanda, Alexandra, Anna, James Jr. and Seamus, one great grand child, Easton, a brother, his sister Debbi (Dwight) Stricker of California and also by Sharon (Roy) Revis of North Carolina. Committal services with full military honors will take place on Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2016, at 2 p.m. at the Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery (21731 Spring Street Union Grove). A visitation with James' family will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 23, from 11:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at the Woman's Club of Kenosha located at 6018-8th Avenue. The visitation will end with a brief prayer service at 12:30 p.m. at the Woman's Club and then burial will follow at SWVMC in Union Grove. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Wounded Warriors Project or Kenosha Area Vietnam Veterans would be appreciated. Casey Family Options Funerals and Cremations Stephen P.
