It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jaime Felipe Souza Abeytua, best known as JIMMY who left this world at 3:45pm on July 3, 2025, in Mérida, Yucatán, Mexico. He was born on June 11, 1946, and lived a life filled with laughter, love, and unforgettable moments. Son of french and spaniard immigrants who moved to Mexico and gave him the best life they could next to his sister Maria Luisa.
Jaime, also known as the ultimate jokester, could always be counted on to lighten the mood with his quick wit and infectious humor. His love for a good prank and his uncanny ability to make people smile will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He loved a good frozen drink, foodie lover and sports fan!
He was always quick to help, specially the Variety Club on Mexico and all their children!
He developed many friendships, some of them turned into brotherhoods that lasted a life time! Luis Miguel Messianu, Jorge Russ, Tina Baker, Raul Pardo, Jane Obadia…
Jaime was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Yleana Potts Molinar, whom he married in 1983 and spent many years together, they raised two children: Vany Huber, Gizelle Huber and also Sandra Jessica Souza Yudico, and Mauricio Souza Yudico, who although far away also bought joy to his life.
During his professional career, Jaime excelled in the world of advertising, working at TOMA 1 Agencia de Publicidad with passion and creativity. His innovative spirit and dedication to his craft left a lasting impact on all who worked alongside him.
Jaime was a proud graduate of Colegio Madrid Mexico, class of 1962, where he first discovered his love for animals, comedy and the arts as well as swimming. He participated at the Olympics within the mexican swimming team. He continued to pursue his passion throughout his life creating, reading, traveling, always finding ways to make those around him laugh.
Although Jaime may have left us, his memory will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him. As we say goodbye to this remarkable man, let us remember him always with a smile and a chuckle, just as he would have wanted.
