Jacqueline Sue MahorneyJacqueline Sue Mahorney, 77, of Lafayette, passed away on Saturday, June 10, 2017 at her home surrounded by her family.She was born on October 2, 1939 in Lafayette to the late James Raymond and Esta Agnes (Dawson) Smith.Jacqueline graduated from Southwestern in 1957 and went on to Beauty School.She was married to the late Donald Burgess from 1959-1963. On September 4, 1966 she married Stanley Mahorney in Indianapolis; he preceded her in death in 1994.Jacqueline was a hairdresser for Bachelor's Beauty Basket and had previously worked for Alpha Chi Omega as a housekeeper.She was a member of the Eagles Lodge. Jacqueline enjoyed gardening, ballroom dancing, dogs, and spending time with her grandchildren and family.Surviving are her children, Michael Burgess of Lafayette, Mark Burgess (fiancée Audra Whitworth) of Lafayette, April (Scott) Mahorney Mull of Lafayette, and Robin (Chris) Mahorney Rossiter of North Carolina, her step-children, Randy Mahorney of Chicago, Lynette Bayless of Crawfordsville, and Michael (Nena) Maharney of Georgia, her sister, Anita (Patrick) Smith Sales of Lafayette. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Travis, Lauren, Chad, Drew, Jessica, Taylor, Jordan, Kaitlyn, Jory, Courtland, Alec, Henry, Duke, Nick, and Kari, great grandchildren Kenedi and Elly, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.She is preceded in death by her brother Gerald Smith.Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 14, 2017 from 5-7pm at Fisher Funeral Chapel.Memorial Contributions may be made to Natalie's 2nd Chance Animal Shelter in loving memory Jacqueline.
