BUTLER — Jackie Marguerite (Wertman) Walker, 90, died Friday, December 26, 2014, at the Laurels of DeKalb in Butler. She was born on December 1, 1924, in St. Joe, Indiana, to the late Harry and Lula (Lutz) Shuff. She married Ira Doc Wertman on September 17, 1949. He preceded her in death in 1980. She married Paul W. Walker on October 22, 1982, and he preceded her in death on February 14, 1992. She was a homemaker and a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Spencerville, IN. She along with her first husband, Doc, owned and operated The Oasis in St. Joe, IN from 1972-1981. She is survived by three daughters, Sandy (Jerry) Leeper of St. Joe; Sherry Wertman of Auburn; and Sally (Roger) Mann of Fort Wayne; two sons, Mark Wertman and his companion, Tonya of Butler; and Matt Wertman of St. Joe; nine grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are three brothers, Chalmer Shuff of Arizona, Bill (Vivian) Shuff of California, and Jim Shuff of Auburn; five sisters Joan Mills of St. Joe; Roseann (Larry) Kinsey of St. Joe; Shirley Chapman of Butler; Claudia Hubert of Auburn; and Faye Tarton of Auburn. She was preceded in death by four brothers; Harry Jr., Franklin, Bud and Bob Shuff; and five sisters; Janice Witte, Kate Clady, Mary Jane Snook, Linda Sattison and Kay Ells. Calling will be held on Monday, December 29, 2014, from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at Carnahan-Baidinger & Walter Funeral Home in Spencerville. Services at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, December 30, 2014, with calling one hour prior at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Spencerville. Pastor Liz Nickel will be officiating.
