Irma Vela, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, passed away peacefully at the age of 66 on October 22, 2025, in her home in Florence, KY, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on September 25, 1959, in Tesistán, Jalisco, Mexico, Irma grew up surrounded by family and faith. In her early teenage years, she moved to the United States, where she began junior high school in Los Angeles, California. Irma was one of ten siblings.

At the young age of 20, she met her late husband, Francisco Vela, while working at Redken in Los Angeles, California, and quickly fell in love. They married in 1978, and Irma devoted her life to her husband and their four children as a loving and dedicated wife and mother.

Irma is survived by her four children, Francisco Vela, Carlos Vela (Jessica), Veronica Vela, and Carina Calderon (Erick); her five grandchildren, Xiomara, Jezlyn, Mateo, Milan, and Liam; and her siblings Maria de la Luz, Arturo, Rosalba, Alfredo, and Beatriz. She was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings Roberto, Maria de Jesus, Henry, and Maria del Refugio, and her beloved husband, Francisco Javier Vela.

A funeral service and burial will be held in private with immediate family in Irma’s honor at Burlington Cemetery in Burlington, KY where she will be laid to rest. May her memory live in the hearts of all who loved her.
