Irene Mazzella, age 94, of Woodhaven and a former resident of East Tawas died on Wednesday, March 17, 2010, at Oakwood Southshore Hospital in Trenton.Irene was born on April 5, 1915, in Detroit to Michael and Petronella (nee Fortuna) Grenda. She worked for the Chrysler Corporation for 38 years. Irene truly enjoyed cooking and spending time with family and friends. She was a member of Tawas Methodist Church and was a former volunteer at Tawas St. Joseph Hospital. Irene also was a former member of the Iosco Sportsmens Club. She was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony; and her parents, Michael and Petronella Grenda. Irene is survived by her sister, Wanda Baker; her niece, Nancy (Jim) Hodges; great-niece, Lee Ann Hodges; and great-nephew, Douglas Hodges. Private graveside prayers took place on Monday, March 22, at Greenwood Cemetery in East Tawas with Pastor Mary Shipley officiating.
