Irene Frances HoffmanLANCASTER: Irene Frances Hoffman, 98, of Lancaster passed away on Saturday October 12, 2013 at the Homestead Center, Lancaster with her loving son by her side. She was born on September 28, 1915 in Lancaster to the late David Eli and Edna (Ruff) Scholl. Irene was a graduate of Lancaster High School Class of 1933. She married L. G. "Pat" Hoffman in 1935 and he preceded her in death in 2001. Irene was a lifetime member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church in N. Berne, she was a member of the St. Paul's Women of the Church, taught Sunday School for 50 years and Bible School for many years. She was a 4-H Advisor for 32 years for the Lucky Lassies and was an excellent seamstress. Irene was an original member of the Farm Bureau Council No 36.Irene is survived by her sons, David (Nancy) Hoffman and Harold (Donna) Hoffman; former son in law, Wilbur (Donna) Barnhart; six grandchildren, Kris Thrush, Peter Hoffman, Marlene (Todd) Winegardner, Todd (Beth) Hoffman, Eric (Michelle) Barnhart, Susan (Rich) Strang; great grandchildren, Aaron and Joanne Barnhart, Mariah and Samantha Thrush, Seth and Zach Winegardner and Brianna and Nathan Hoffman; brothers, Jim Scholl, Neil (Betty) Scholl; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, L. G. "Pat" Hoffman; daughter, Joanne Barnhart; grandson in law, David Thrush; sisters and brothers in law, Helen and George Beery, Lucille and Robert Beery, brother and sister in law, Karl and Wilma Scholl; sisters in law and brothers in law, Mary Edith Scholl, Paul Hoffman, Ruth and Raymond Miller. Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:00AM Thursday October 17, 2013 at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in N. Berne. Interment will follow in St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday October 16 from 2-4 and 6-8PM at the SHERIDAN FUNERAL HOME and on Thursday from 10:00AM to 11:00AM at the church.
