It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ilus Wood Jr., who peacefully left this world on June 16, 2024, in Schererville, Indiana.

Born on September 18, 1929, Ilus was the beloved son of Ilus Wood Sr and Mildred née Graves. In 1974, he married the love of his life, Mary C Wood, and they had a beautiful life together with no children but were blessed with 8 grandchildren.

Ilus dedicated many years of his life working at the Chicago Motor Club, where he eventually retired in 2012. In addition to his professional career, he was passionate about gardening and was actively involved in several gardening organizations. He also proudly served in the US Air Force, where he honed his skills as a private pilot, a hobby he enjoyed throughout his life.

Ilus will be remembered for his kindness, his sense of humor, and his unwavering love for his family. He leaves behind a legacy of hard work, dedication, and a love for adventure.

Ilus Wood Jr. will be dearly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. May he rest in peace.
