Arndt, IlmaIlma Emily Norma Arndt of Random Lake, age 93 passed away surrounded by her loved ones on Tuesday, October3, 2017 at Gables on the Pond. She was born on February 25, 1924 in Little Kohler (Town of Fredonia) to Emil and Louise (nee Rausch) Wilke. Ilma married Erwin Arndt on October 23, 1943 at St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Waubeka. Ilma was a nature lover and anything to do with blue birds was her favorite. She enjoyed collecting blue bird figurines, sewing and making her famous Christmas ornaments with her sister Velma. Ilma will be dearly missed for her wonderful witty sense of humor and compassion for life. She loved her family more than anything and was a cherished fire chief's wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and great-great grandmother. Ilma is survived by her children Robert (Shari) Arndt of Random Lake and Barbara Slankard of Kansas City, KS, grandchildren Jeff Arndt, Rhonda Bahr, Cortni Arndt, Chad Arndt, Jeffrey Oertle, Tanya Snyder, 12 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild with another on the way, brother Howard Wilke and her puppy Megan. Ilma is further survived by other relatives and friends. Ilma is preceded in death by her husband Erwin "Powerhouse" Arndt, son-in-law Edward Slankard, granddaughter Nikole Arndt, brother-in-law Vernon Arndt, sisters Mildred Mitchell, Velma Hellish, Harmie Madden, brothers Norman Wilke, Clarence Wilke and infant Bobby. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, October 7, 2017 at St. John's United Church of Christ 98 Random Lake Road, Random Lake, WI 53075 at 3:00 PM. Reverend Ann Utke will officiate. Visitation will be held from 12:00 PM until the time of service at 3:00 PM. Ilma will be laid to rest next to her husband at Union Cemetery in Random Lake immediately following the service.
