GALAX -- Herbert Lee Martin, 78, of Galax passed away May 18, 2015 in the Lewis-Gale Medical Center in Salem. He was born on July 28, 1936 in Grayson County to Isaac Marion and Forest Irene Shupe Martin.He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Darlene and Junior Harmon of Galax; sons Timmy Martin, E.W. Martin and Brandon Martin, all of Burlington, N.C.; sister and brother-in-law Wilma and David Waller; brother and sister-in-law Benny and Mary Martin, all of Galax; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. The service was May 20 in the Southwest Virginia Veterans Cemetery in Dublin. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the Wounded Warriors Project, P.O.
