Henry C. Kuzik 1918 - 2014 Henry C. Kuzik, 96, of Kenosha, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2014, at the Hospice House. He was born on April 25, 1918, to the late Alex and Eva (Babkiewicz) Kuczyc in Kenosha. He was educated in the schools of Kenosha. Henry was awarded an honorary diploma from the Kenosha School District in 2001. On Jan. 22, 1943, he entered the US Army. Henry served during the Normandy Invasion and in Northern France, Rhineland and Central Europe. He served as a PFC demolition specialist. Henry received the Victory Medal, American Theater Ribbon, European African Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon with four bronze battle stars, four overseas service bars and the good conduct medal. He was honorably discharged on Nov. 14, 1945. On Nov. 16, 1940, he married Jeanette Lawdanska in Kenosha. She preceded him in death on November 20, 2001. Henry owned and operated Kuzik Brothers Grocery Store on the northside with his brother Edward for many years. Henry was a member of the National Rose Society, Gateway Rose Society, Racine Mum Society, Kenosha Garden Club and the Milwaukee Rose Society. He won best garden 2 years in a row. He was also a member of the Moose Lodge 256. Henry loved gardening and volunteering for Hospice Alliance. After retirement, he was an avid bicyclist and swimmer. He also enjoyed dancing and socializing. Henry is survived by his loving children, Carrie Beirne of San Antonio, Texas, Jerry (Karen) Kuzik of Mukwonago, Wis., and Sue (Larry) Swaton of Kenosha, a daughter-in-law, Pat Kuzik of Alaska; and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by a son, Bob, and his brother, Edward. A Celebration of Life Visitation for Henry will be held on Thursday, Oct. 30, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Bruch Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers memorials would be appreciated to Kenosha Hospice Alliance or the Star & Stripes Honor Flight of Wisconsin.
