Helen (Goyeneche) Owen (90), passed away on November 1st, 2016 at the Serenity House in Santa Barbara with her family by her side. A woman of devout Catholic faith, she was at peace and ready to go when the Lord called her home.

Helen was born on July 2, 1926 in Santa Paula. She married Joseph Goyeneche and had two children. Helen retired from the Ventura Unified School District.

Helen married Dr. Charles Owen of Santa Barbara after Joe's passing. Helen and Chuck celebrated 33 wonderful years together. They were active in Stardusters Dance Club and the Santa Barbara Yacht Club. Chuck and Helen traveled extensively in their early years. In the later years of their marriage, they stayed closer to home and their families. Helen deeply valued her family and many special friendships. She loved entertaining, decorating for the holidays and designing the interior of her homes. She had a special talent for gardening and her garden patios were a special source of pride and joy.

Helen is survived by her husband, Dr. Charles Owen. Two children: Steven Goyeneche (Pam), Joan Reed (Bob). Five step children: Ron, Mary, Kathy, Kevin and Chris and their families. Four Grandchildren; Mike Scott, R.J. Reed, Dianne Zoll, Joe Goyeneche and eight precious great grandchildren.

A Memorial Mass will be held at St Raphael's Catholic Church in Goleta on Friday November 18, 2016 at 10am followed by a reception at the Club House at Marvilla, 5500 Calle Real, Santa Barbara.
