Helen NeumanFeb. 5, 1915 - Sept. 10, 2017Pacific Grove, CAHelen Dorothy Neuman, 102, of Pacific Grove passed away peacefully in her sleep on the night of September 10 at Canterbury Woods retirement home in Pacific Grove. She was born on Feb. 5, 1915 in Chicago to George and Eugenie Kapantais. She was married to Milton C. Neuman on August 17, 1935.Helen had a strong love of Greek culture inherited from her parents and evident in her cooking. She was an active tennis player, and once retired from the court, loved tennis matches on TV. She was fond of quilting, growing orchids, and bird watching. She worked for the Oak Park, IL elementary school system as secretary for many years.She is preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Milton.In addition to her parents, four brothers preceded her in death, Dionysius (Dan), Demititroki (Jim), Yalenko (Alex), and Socrates (Soc), and several beloved cousins.Helen is survived by her daughters Jeanne and Mitsy (Gary) and sons Milton, Jr. (Betty) and Robert; 9 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren.She is remembered for her playful humor, evidenced by a collection of dolls, circus clown memorabilia, and mechanical toys.A funeral service will be held at St. Timothy Lutheran Church, Monterey, on Tuesday, September 19, 11:00 am.
