Helen Marie HellersteinDecember 29, 1927May 26, 2017Helen Marie Hellerstein (nee Simpson, nee Sweeney) passed away May 26 in Reno, Nevada. Helen was born on December 29, 1927 in Yonkers, New York as the only child to James and Anna Simpson. Helen lived in Yonkers until she married Robert Walter Sweeny in 1951. The newlyweds then moved to Park Ridge, Illinois and Helen became a doting housewife and later a loving mother to her 3 children, Walter, Maureen and Roberta.In 1965, the family moved from Park Ridge, IL to Palos Verdes, CA where Helen enjoyed the beautiful ocean views. She took up oil painting and was a terrific artist. In 1975, Helen's husband Bobby, died.In 1978, Helen married Bernard Hellerstein and had 17 years of true marital bliss. Bernie and Helen enjoyed traveling and went on many cruises. They were a couple that truly enjoyed spending time together. In 1995 Bernie died, and Helen was yet again a widow.In 2004, Helen moved to Reno, Nevada to be closer to her daughter, Roberta, and her grandchildren. In 2011, Roberta and Mark Della lovingly opened their home to Helen, where she happily lived out the rest of her days.Services will be held at South Reno Baptist Church, 6780 S. McCarran Blvd. in Reno, at 10:00 am on Saturday, June 17th
