HELEN LUCILLE BERTUSSI

June 1, 1923 - Sept. 13, 2010

Helen Bertussi, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, long time business woman and entrepreneur was called home by the Lord Monday, September thirteenth. She was surrounded by her children. Helen was 87 years old. Helen is preceded in death by her sisters Dorothy and Marian; brother Harold; granddaughter Dionna, grandson Meryl; and great-grandson Jayson. She is survived by her loving husband of seventy years, John Bertussi; her children, Giovanni and Carolyn Bertussi, Linda and Jerry Mayo, Polly and Hank Kuiper, Reno Bertussi, Randy and Jan Bertussi, Larry and Jenell Bertussi, Bella Bertussi, and Angie and Rod West. She was grandmother to 17 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren, with another two on the way. Helen was born on June 1st, 1923 in Flint Michigan to Carl and Myrtle Hunt. On a trip to visit her sister in Imperial Valley she met and fell in love with John Bertussi. They were married on January 1st. 1940. Helen and John began their life together in Calexico running the family Dairy. In the mid 50's they purchased Pioneer Trailer Park. From there the manufactured home business became their family business. Helen will be remembered for her love of family, friends, life and her charitable contributions to those in need. She was a lifetime member of the Soroptimist Club. It was thru this venue that she was able to inspire other women to become business owners. Per her request, Helens generosity to the needy and various charities went mostly unnoticed. Helen's passing will leave a deep void in the hearts of all family members, friends, and colleagues. Her spunky personality and zest for life will live on forever in the hearts of her loved ones. Rest in Peace "Gramma Tussi". The vigil will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, September 16th at St. Mary Catholic Church, 795 La Brucherie Road, El Centro, California. The Funeral will also be held at St. Mary Catholic Church on Friday, September 17th at 11 a.m. Graveside services will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in El Centro.
