WAWAKA — Helen Jacobs, age 68, of Wawaka, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, July 7, 2016. She was born on April 22, 1948, the daughter of Frank and Lydia Slone (Jacobs) in Hindman, Kentucky. She is survived by her companion of 25 years, Edmund Jones, of Wawaka, Indiana; four children, Sherry Carr, Sheila (Teddy) Martin, Katy Jacobs and her companion Brandon Percey, and James William Scott Jacobs; her grandchildren, LaKeasha, Kayla, La Torie and Derrick Carr, Brent, Brittany, Olivia, Bradley, Alexis and Wesley Martin, Felicia Wright, James Damion Joesph and Jada Kaitlyn Percey, Josh and Jeremy Jacobs; her great-grandchildren, Whitney Carr, Kevin Guerra, Zalen and Zinnia Carr, Ivan Flores and Arianna Wright; her brothers, Frankie and Micheal Jacobs; her sisters, Jean Hall, Jackie Kipp, Ann Glaser, Shirley Brewer, Cathy Barhydt, Linda Arispe, Brenda Ritchie, Glenda Slone and Sonya Huff; a brother-in-law, Hank (Barb) Jones; and two stepsons, Tony (Jennifer) Altimus and Ron (Cathy) Jones, along with their families. Helen is preceded in death by her parents; Frank and Lydia Jacobs; her husband, James Jacobs; her brothers, Buster, Devert and Johnny Jacobs; and her granddaughter, Jada L. Carr. A one of a kind homemaker, Helen truly loved to spend time with her children and grandchildren. Many moments were spent outside in her garden and under her apple trees. She will be missed by many because of her character and charm she left with anyone who came into her fold. A funeral service will begin at 6 p.m. on Sunday, July 10, 2016, at Yeager Funeral Home, 1589 Lincolnway South Ligonier. A private burial will take place on Monday, July 11, 2016, at Oak Park Cemetery in Ligonier, Indiana. Family and friends will be received from 4-6 p.m. on Sunday, July 10, 2016.
