Hazel L. DerwacterNASHPORT: Hazel Lucille Derwacter, 87 of Nashport passed away at 3:25 am on December 16, 2014 at Autumn Healthcare in Zanesville.Hazel was born on April 6, 1927 to the late George and Goldie (Orndoff) Mercer. She graduated as valedictorian from Good Samaritan School of Nursing in 1948 and worked as a nurse in Athens and Zanesville for several years. She is the wife of William Harry Derwacter whom she married May 28, 1950; the mother of Dave (Carol) Derwacter of Nashport, Jan (Don) Shroyer of Zanesville and Gail Smith of Zanesville; seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.In addition to her parents, Hazel is preceded in death by her brother, Gene Mercer; her sister, Marian Wilson; and her aunt, Elva Scott.The family has held private services and Hazel was laid to rest in the Duncan Falls Cemetery. The Farus Funeral Home was entrusted with caring for the Derwacter family.
