Harry McRaeKnoxville, TNA Memorial Service for Harry Kenneth McRae, who passed away unexpectedly on March 27, 2016, will be conducted at St. James Episcopal Church, 1101 N. Broadway St., Knoxville, TN 37917 at 6:00 p.m., Thursday, October 20, 2016. The service will be led by the Reverend Michelle Warner Bolt, assisted by the Reverend John Mark Wiggers, Rector of St. James. Harry Kenneth McRae was born on January 15, 1947. At his death, he was 69 years old. His parents were Harry W. McRae and Lena Blendine McRae, née Rucker, both deceased. He is survived by an uncle, Arthur C. McRae; and an aunt, Linda Marie Price, née McRae, both of Knoxville; a cousin, Nancy Ruth Schmidt, née Rucker of Abilene, KS; two nieces, Marcia Lynn Prince and Carla Jo Kennedy, both of Alameda County, CA. Harry was a graduate of Knoxville East High School (Class of 1964) where he was very active in acting and drama, and music and singing. He was selected for the Key Club and National Honor Society. Immediately following high school, he attended and graduated (Class of 1968) from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville with a BS in Music Education. He was a lifetime member of Phi Sigma Kappa fraternity.His first employment was a teacher of music, band and orchestra in the Alcoa School System. He continued his love for music, particularly chorus, piano and organ, over the next 40 years by teaching and serving as the pianist, organist and/or Director of Music as various Episcopal churches. His principal employment changed to the field of public health services when he became an employee of the Knox County Health Department. Pursuing this avocation, he sought and was awarded his Master of Public Health degree from UT-K in 1994. In a career spanning some 30 years, he held positions in charge of county-wide immunization and later, family planning.
