We mourn the passing of Harold Lipsey, born on March 12, 1935, in New York, New York, United States. He was the beloved son of Joseph and Peggy Lipsey. Harold was the loving husband of Margaret, whom he married in 1962. Together, they raised two children, Dr. Thomas (spouse Linda) and Susan (spouse Mark), and were blessed with four grandchildren.
Harold dedicated his life to serving others, working at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital until his retirement in 2007. He was a longtime volunteer with Doctors Without Borders and the American Heart Association, and founded a free neighborhood clinic in Harlem for underserved families.
Throughout his career, Harold was recognized for his contributions, receiving the Lifetime Achievement Award from the American College of Cardiology and the Columbia University Distinguished Alumni Medal.
Aside from his professional achievements, Harold enjoyed playing classical piano, reading history, attending Yankees games, and taking long walks in Central Park.
Harold Lipsey passed away on September 4, 2025, after a valiant battle with cancer. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched.
