Papá was a rolling stone

Harold Brooks, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on July 10, 2024, at the age of 72. He was a long term resident of the beautiful community of Playas del Coco, Guanacaste Province, Costa Rica.

Born on August 12, 1951, to Joseph Brooks and Mable Garrison, Harold defied his parents at the age of 18 and began backpacking Europe, Japan, Australia & the Middle East. In 1994 he met his lifelong partner Sandra, with whom he shares two beloved daughters, Jennifer and Nicole, and granddaughter Taylor. In 2013, he married the love of his life, Karen Umaña Villarreal.

Harold dedicated many years of his life working at Delta Airlines, where he was able to combine his career with his true passion, traveling the world. This passion took him to every continent, and even at age 72, he was still backpacking the most remote areas.

He lived a life of a vagabond who will be deeply missed by all who knew him, including his family and friends. Harold leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unforgettable memories. Although he may no longer be with us, his spirit will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to have known him.
