A Life Well Lived

Harold Lee, born on September 29th, 1952, in Newark, New Jersey, peacefully departed this life on September 13th, 2023. He was a beloved husband, stepfather, brother, and friend, leaving behind cherished memories that will forever remain in our hearts.

Harold is survived by his devoted wife of 20 years, Shirley Joyce Lee, who stood by his side through thick and thin. He was a loving stepfather to Pamela Thompson Underhill and a caring father-in-law to Ashley Thompson Underhill. His pride and joy, granddaughter Isley Thompson White, brought immense happiness into his life.

Harold was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Florence Jones, and is survived by his sister, Florence Robinson of Elizabeth, New Jersey, and his brother, Richard Lee of Newark, New Jersey. He shared a close bond with his three brothers-in-law, Donald Underhill, Dennis Underhill, and Maurice Underhill, and three sisters-in-law, Betty Taylor, Barbara Underhill, and Patricia Lee. He leaves behind a legacy of love and warmth, remembered by nieces Crystal Robinson, Tammy Cochrun, Christina Robinson, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Harold dedicated 40 years of his life to his career as a skilled short-order cook. His culinary talents were appreciated by all who had the pleasure of tasting his creations. In addition to cooking, Harold had a passion for painting and handy work, and his artistic talents knew no bounds. He had a knack for transforming the ordinary into the extraordinary.

Harold's zest for life extended beyond the kitchen and his workshop. He enjoyed shooting pool, dancing, and possessed a singing voice that could rival a hummingbird's melody. His favorite musical group, the Delfonics, provided the soundtrack to many of his cherished moments.

Though he enjoyed the company of friends and the thrill of social activities, Harold also found solace in the quiet moments at home and the simple pleasure of playing cards. He embraced life's balance between vibrant moments and serene solitude.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Charles A. West Funeral and Cremation Services in Bayonne, New Jersey, for their compassionate care during this difficult time.

Harold Lee's life was a testament to the beauty of passion, love, and the enduring bonds of family and friendship. He will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Rest in peace, dear Harold, and may your memory continue to bring joy to our lives as we reflect on the wonderful times we shared.
