This obituary is administered by:

Harley Robert Olson passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones on October 30, 2016. Harley was born on August 4, 1933 in Hettinger, ND to Henry and Bertina (Bjorndahl) Olson. He attended school in Hettinger graduating from high school in 1953. Upon graduation he joined the Army and was based in Alaska. After his service he returned to Hettinger. He worked at White's Hardware before beginning his career as a truck driver. Harley first drove for Northwest Trucking and then for Austad's Trucking. He married his sweetheart, Elinor Morgen, on September 14, 1958. They spent 58 beautiful years together. In 1961 they were blessed with a daughter, Gayle Lynne. Harley and Elinor moved to Loveland, CO in 1988. He continued driving truck for Nation's Way until 1999. When he retired, he went to work for the Re-Organized Farmer's Ditch Company as a ditch rider. This was a job he truly loved. It allowed him to be out in the country meeting with farmers and ranchers. He so enjoyed driving the countryside. Harley was a devoted outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing, and sharing his passion with friends and family. Each year he looked forward to his fall hunting trip to Hettinger. He was a proud member of The American Legion, Pheasants Forever, Ducks Unlimited, and the NRA. He was an active member of Crossroads Church and had an incredible faith in The Lord. Harley was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and best friend to those who knew him. His humble personality and witty comebacks made him a great person to know and talk with. Harley was the biggest and loudest fan at every sport his daughter and grandchildren took part in. Grateful for having shared in his life are his wife Elinor Olson, daughter Gayle Schneider, granddaughter Alexandra Schneider, all of Loveland, CO, grandson Jack (JC) Schneider, Fort Collins, CO, sister Genevieve (Olson) Leskody, Cutchogue, NY, and numerous nieces, nephews, and family members. Harley was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Donald. A Celebration of Life Gathering will take place from 1-4:00 p.m., Saturday, November 5, 2016 at the home of Harley and Elinor Olson. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Legion Post #115 in Hettinger, ND in care of Kibbey-Fishburn Funeral Home.
