H.W. McKim III (Mickey)1924-2015H.W. McKim III (Mickey) age 91, passed away peacefully on the 16th of September 2015. He was born on the 25th of April 1924 in Fort Worth Texas, and was preceeded in death by his parents H.W. McKim Jr. and Elizabeth Niedermeyer McKim, and his wife Caroline Fischer McKim. He grew up in Fort Worth and attended Arlington Heights High School. He enrolled at the University of Missouri Columbia where he was a member of Sigma Nu Fraternity and met the love of his life, Caroline. They were married in Jefferson City, Missouri. Mickey served in the USAF during World War II and after the war went to work for Humble Oil and Refining Company, which later became Exxon. While living in Houston the couple started their family and all three children were born there. Mickey's job took the family to Arcadia, California, and Charlotte, North Carolina and finally back to Houston where they lived until he retired. During his time with Exxon he served as a district manager, regional manager and finally as the National Credit Manager. He also served as the President of the American Petroleum Credit Association.After retirement Mickey and Caroline built a home in Walden on Lake Conroe and became involved in the community including the Walden Follies, EMT volunteer, and Walden MUD Board. Mickey & Caroline loved their cruises that took them all over the world. He enjoyed bird hunting with his sons and had countless leases across South Texas. April Sound Church became an important part of their lives and Mickey remained a loyal parishioner until the time of his death.Mickey is survived by his 3 loving and caring children: Robert Allen McKim and his wife Linda, daughter, Elizabeth McKim Boyd, and son, Stephen Walton McKim and his wife Helen. Grandchildren Meredith McKim Ridner and husband Zac, Jenna Lynn McKim, Caroline Jean Boyd, Andrew Walton Boyd, Christopher Scott Boyd and great granddaughter, Addison Grace Ridner, and soon to be born Collins Caroline Ridner, and adopted family who so lovingly took care of Mickey, Cindy and Eric Gleisner.Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from four o'clock to six o'clock on Sunday, the 20th of September, at Metcalf Funeral Home, 1801 East White Oak Terrace, Conroe, TX. The funeral service will be on Monday, the 21st of September at 10:00 at April Sound Church, 67 ½ April Wind South, Montgomery, TX 77356.In lieu of customary remembrances, contributions may be made to Helping Hands April Sound Church or .
