Gregory M. Praiss, age 73, of Oscoda and formerly of Sterling Heights and Utica, died on Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2014 at his home. He was born on July 14, 1940 in Ferndale to the late George and Mary Praiss (nee Szambelan). Gregory graduated from Aero Mechanics High School and later attended Macomb Community College. He worked in tool and die for the Chrysler Corporation for 34 years. Gregory was member of the UAW and he also enjoyed classic car groups and the Tawas Sportsman Club. He is survived by his wife, Jane C. Praiss, whom he married on May 23, 1959 in Centerline; his son, Christopher (Maryann) Praiss of Macomb Township; daughter, Leslie (Marty) Minth of Richmond; grandchildren, Andrew, Adam and Chelsey Dirnberger; sister, Beverly Malasi of Chesterfield Township; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held on Saturday, Jan. 4 at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oscoda. The place of interment was Cadillac Memorial Gardens in Clinton Township.
