Gregory Allen was born August 21, 1950 to the parents of Eli and Carol Allen in Cleveland, Ohio. He was the Alumni of Central State University and worked for Cleveland Public Power for over 25 years.He belonged to several organizations and particiapted in many food drives for the homeless over the years. At the age of 56 Greg became a active member in Gladstone Baptist Church. Greg was truly a motivator and innovator.

At age 56 Greg became really sick and was constantly hospitalized for strokes. However, he never let the strokes or physical pain defeat him. He still managed to attend every family function and play a active role in his grandchildren and great grandchildren lives.

Greg was never married, but he is survived by his three children Nichelle, Toni and Gerald as well as five grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren  and a host of other loved ones.

On September 7, 2015; Greg was called home to finally be at peace. Days before his passing he wrote a poem that he wanted all his family and friends to see if he never got the chance to tell them himself:

Afterglow

I'd like the memory of me to be a happy one. 

I'd like to leave an afterglow of smiles when life is done. 

I'd like to leave an echo whispering softly down the ways, of happy times and laughing times and bright and sunny days. 

I'd like the tears of those who grieve to dry before the sun of happy memories that I leave behind when life is done.
