Grant SmithRichmond Township - Grant Irving Smith, 92, of Richmond Township entered eternal life on Thursday, November 2, 2017. He was born on May 26, 1925 in Kenton, Michigan to Harlan and Fern Smith. Grant married Doris Mae Bonin on June 2, 1945 in Trout Creek, Michigan. He had a long standing career as a gravel train truck driver and when he wasn't driving trucks he worked on the family farm. When he wasn't working, Grant loved to play cards and try his luck while visiting casinos. He was very devoted to his family and enjoyed spending time with his kids, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. He is survived by his sons, Robin (Anna) Smith, Dale (Mary Ann) Smith, Gary Smith and Scott Smith; his daughter, Lori (Charlie) Abke; his 22 grandchildren; his 21 great grandchildren; his brother, Miles (Jeannette); and his many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris Mae; his son, Richard Smith; his daughters, Jeannie Marie, Dorothy Jean and Mary Fischer and her husband Mike Fischer; his daughter in law, Marion; his great granddaughter, Sahara; and his sister, Blythe Johnson. A funeral service will be held Monday, November 6, 2017 at 11:00am in Kammeraad Merchant Funeral Home, Memphis. Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 5, 2017 from 2:00pm-4:00pm and 6:00pm-8:00pm in the Funeral. Burial will be held at Memphis Cemetery, Richmond Township.
