Landwehr, Gordon J.Gordon J. Landwehr, 84, Edgar, died on Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at his home in the Town of Wien, Marathon County. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, March 4, 2017 at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, Marathon City with Rev. Jon Hadler officiating. Burial will take place in St. Matthew's Cemetery, Marathon, where military rites will be conducted by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #6352 of Stratford. Serving as pallbearers will be grandsons, Adam, Levi and Noah Lassa, a great grandson, Gage Lassa, and nephews and Godsons, Dale and Jason Landwehr and Bryon Johnson. Honorary Pallbearers will be granddaughters, Melani and Jazmin Landwehr and a great granddaughter, Avery Lassa and nieces and Goddaughters, Nancy Grosbier, Lori Andres and Sharon Schmidt. The visitation will be held from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Friday at Sauter / Rembs Funeral Home, Stratford and from 9:00 am on Saturday until service time at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church.Gordon was born on April 29, 1932 in the Town of Emmet, Marathon County, to Martin and Minnie (Schallock) Landwehr and attended Wescott School in the Town of Eau Pleine. As a young man, he was employed at Roddis Plywood Company in Marshfield until he was drafted into the United States Navy in March of 1956. After his honorable discharge in October of 1957 he continued his employment at Roddis. Gordon was united in marriage to Betty M. Pockrandt on August 9, 1958 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Loyal. In May of 1959 the Landwehr's purchased his family farm in the Town of Eau Pleine which was his pride and joy. After 31 years of farming they moved to the house they built in Edgar. He then worked with his brother Gene at Gateway Homes until retirement. Once a farmer, always a farmer, which is why he really enjoyed helping their son on his farm. Gordy enjoyed traveling, polka dancing and family get-togethers.He is survived by his wife, Betty, a daughter, Lynette (Tony) Lassa of Merrill and a son, David (Tammy) Landwehr of Edgar. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren, Adam (Amanda), Levi (Casey) and Noah (fiancé - Morgan) Lassa, and Melani and Jazmin Landwehr, and 2 great grandchildren, Gage and Avery Lassa. He is further survived by siblings, Jarold (Marie) Landwehr, LaVern (Ellen) Landwehr, Wilmer (Ione) Landwehr and Donald (June) Landwehr, all of Stratford, Eugene Landwehr of Unity, and Shirley (Ernie) Johnson of Warrens, and sisters-in-law, Edna and Elnora Landwehr, both of Stratford, brothers-in-law, Verlyn Pockrandt and James Boettcher and numerous nieces and nephews.He was predeceased by his parents, brothers, Allen, Ivan and Raymond Landwehr, a sister, Bernice Boucher, brother-in-law, Edward Boucher and sisters-in-law, Janet and Jan Landwehr, Udine Boettcher and Loretta Pockrandt and parents-in-law, William and Martina Pockrandt.Condolences may be sent online to www.rembsfh.com
