NEWARK, NJ - G.L. Upshaw, 81, of Newark, New Jersey; died Wednesday (February 5, 2014) at Newark Manor Nursing Home. A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday (February 11, 2014) at House of Praise, East Ave., Newark, NJ.

Golious "G.L." Upshaw Jr. was born in Midway, Alabama, Feb. 5, 1933, son of Mr. Golious Upshaw and Mrs. Ida Wiley Upshaw. He was a machinist at Garlock Co. in Palmyra.

Survived by three daughters, Doneatha Upshaw, Eula Upshaw Cunningham, Cassandra Upshaw Conner, two grandchildren, Charles Thomas Cunningham Jr. III, Jah'LIN Trevion Upshaw Conner, three great-grandchildren, Ariana J. Cunningham, Tavian Thomas Cunningham, Chariah M. Cunningham; two brothers, Robert and William Upshaw of Tampa; three sisters, Dorothy and JOEthel Upshaw of Tampa, Annie "Sweet Child" Salary of Alabama, host of nieces and nephews.
