HERMITT, Glen Izett St. Elmo, 71, Of Tampa, FL, departed this life Friday, March 7, 2014. A homegoing celebration will be held Saturday, March 15, 2014, at 10 am, at Ray Williams Funeral Home, 301 North Howard Avenue, Tampa, FL 33606, with Dr. C.T. Kirkland, officiating. Interment will follow in Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery, 4615 East Hanna Avenue, Tampa, FL 33610.
Glen was born on May 3, 1942, to the Late Louise Gobern Hermitt and the Late Emmanuel Hermitt in Palmetto Grove, St. Mary, Jamaica.
He later relocated to Tampa, FL, where he met and married his wife of 36 years, Rosa Lee Hermitt. Glen continued to reside in Tampa until he departed this life on Friday, March 7, 2014 in Tampa, FL.
Glen leaves to mourn his death: his loving wife, Rosa Lee Hermitt of Tampa; children, Marlene Hermitt of New York, Maitland Hermitt of Tampa, Marlon Hermitt of Ruskin, James Anderson Jr. of Germany, Cynthia Altine (Jacques) of Tampa, Charlotte Waters of Tampa, Shelia Godfrey of Tampa, Deacon Gent Lee Godfrey Jr. (Georgette) of Tampa; brother, Garrick Hermitt (Violet) of Tampa; his sisters, Mavis Walsh of Jamaica, Joyce Brown of the U.K., and Claire Fralene Allen of the U.K.; brother-in-law, Major Mention (Willie Mae) of Tampa; 24 grands; 33 great-grands; 1 great-great grandchild; also dear cousin, Clive Gobern; friends, Leroy Duncan and Mr. Brown; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other mournful relatives and friends.
Mr. Hermitt will repose from 5-8 pm, Friday, March 14, 2014 at Ray Williams Funeral Home, 301 North Howard Avenue, Tampa, FL 33606.
