YORK Gladys R. (Stine) Jennings, 93, formerly of Dallastown, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 15, at Manor Care Kingston Court. She was the beloved wife of 52 years to the late C. Wade Jennings, until his passing on April 29, 1991. Mrs. Jennings was born on September 4, 1921, in Windsor Township and was the daughter of the late George C. and Sadie (Young) Stine. She was the oldest of eight children. Gladys retired from the York County Hospital and Home (Pleasant Acres) after working 11 years in the dietary department. She also worked at a number of cigar and sewing factories in the Dallastown/ Red Lion area. Gladys was a 50+ year member of the former Trinity United Methodist Church in Dallastown and was currently a member of Otterbein United Methodist in Spry. She was a member of the Golden Age of Dallastown and chaired the Cheero committee for over 17 years. She also was a member of the Spry Seniors and the Methodist Women's group. Gladys was a wonderful baker, always taking her egg custard pies and assorted cakes to family and church functions. She enjoyed making homemade faschnauts and would give them to family and friends. She was a religious, nurturing and kind woman, who was always willing to help out whenever she could. She would regularly drive her "cronies" to local church picnics. She was a regular at Eastern Market with friends, enjoying lunch and chatting. Gladys was a regular at Wehrly's Auction in Glen Rock before losing her eyesight because of macular degeneration. She will be greatly missed by her two children, Barry W. Jennings, Sr. and his wife Connie of Craley and Nancy Jennings-Fair and her husband G. Scott of Hellam. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Paul E. Jennings and his companion Tina Smeltzer of Red Lion, Barry W. Jennings, Jr., and his wife Theresa of York, Scott Miller of York, Peg Miller of York and Mark Miller and his wife Farrah of York; step grandson, Chad E. Fair and his wife Christina McGrath-Fair of Florida; five great-grandchildren, Cody W. Jennings, Tory M. Jennings, Brandi R. Jennings, Armani Miller and Colin Miller; great-great-grandson, Caelum Jennings; great-great step grandson, Camden Fair; and great-great step granddaughters, AnnaMae Grace Fair and Quinn Fair. She is also survived by two brothers, Richard Stine of York and Russell Stine of Hanover; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Becky Sue; two sisters, Esther Kile and Betty McWilliams; and three brothers, George Stine, Truman Stine and Woodrow Stine. A funeral service to honor Gladys' life will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, November 20, at the Austin H. Eberly Funeral Home, Inc., 104 W. Main St., Dallastown, with the Rev. Ken Loyer and the Rev. Mitch Galloway officiating. A viewing will take place at the funeral home on Wednesday, November 19 from 6 to 8 p.m., and again on Thursday, beginning at 10 a.m. until the start of the service. Interment will follow in Winterstown Evangelical Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Otterbein United Methodist Church or to the Yoe Fire Company.
