GERTRUDE BATTON, 73, of Lumberton, North Carolina, passed away on October 17, 2024. She was born on June 7, 1951. GERTRUDE was a beloved member of the community, known for her kind heart and gentle spirit. She always had a smile on her face and a helping hand extended to those in need. GERTRUDE was passionate about her faith and devoted much of her time to volunteering at local charities. Her presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her legacy of love and compassion will continue to inspire those she touched. Gertrude is survived by her children, Melinda Ann Dick (David) of Red Springs, Johnny Batton of Chesnee, SC, and Neil Batton of Fairmont; a sister, Jean McRae (Danny) of Fairmont; two brothers, Earl Grimsley (Jean-Carol) of Fairmont and David Simmons of Fairmont; 15 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends. Rest in peace, GERTRUDE.

The visitation will be from 12 to 1 p.m. Saturday October 19th, 2024 following a celebration of life service will be held at 1 p.m.
