Gerald R. TiehelJuly 17, 1935 - November 2, 2016Spring GroveGerald Ronald Tiehel, 81, passed away on November 2, 2016 at home surrounded by his family. He was the loving husband of Rosalie Anne (Weaver) Tiehel; together they shared over 59 years of marriage. Gerald was born on July 17, 1935 in Hanover and was the son of the late Earl W. and Elsie Mae (Sanders) Tiehel. He graduated from York Catholic High School class of 1953. He proudly served his country in the US Navy and was honorably discharged. He worked as an electrician for many years before retiring. He was an avid Washington Redskins fan and New York Yankees fan. In his younger years he enjoyed baseball, softball, and bowling and more recently he enjoyed bowling in the senior league with his wife. He was also a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Spring Grove.In addition to his wife, Gerald is survived by his sons, Thomas W. Tiehel of Bluffton, S.C., Stephen M. Tiehel of Spring Grove, Andrew A. Tiehel and wife, Carol of Spring Grove, and Daniel P. Tiehel of West York; his daughter, Robin E. Gobrecht and husband, Michael of Spring Grove; his grandchildren, Valerie, Michael, Nicole, Brock, and Drew; his step grandchildren, Abby and Jeremy; and his great-grandchildren, Sydney, Cameron, Zachary, and Aria. He is also survived by his sister, Carole Brady and husband, Michael of Greenville, N.C.The family would like the thank everyone for all of their help, prayers, and support throughout Gerald's illness. Following cremation, a memorial mass in celebration of his life will be held on Monday at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 146 N, Main St., Spring Grove PA. Interment will follow at Spring Grove Cemetery.
