Gerald Lee KesnerBRECKENRIDGE, TX Gerald "Jerry" Lee Kesner, 82, passed away on August 3, 2017, at Hendrick Hospice Center in Abilene, Texas. Jerry was born on October 31, 1934, in Humble, Texas. He was the son of Fred and Pearlie Kesner, and had two younger sisters: Frances and Genell. He married Jo Nell Eubanks of Ira, Texas in 1959, and was father to three sons:Fred, Tate, and Scott. Jerry was a graduate of Allen Military Academy in Bryan, Texas. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Army and served in Alaska as a decoder of Russian Intelligence. Following his service to our country, Jerry worked for Sun Pipeline Company for forty years. He then worked part-time for First National Bank of Breckenridge, and retired again. Jerry served as Neighborhood Commissioner for the Boy Scouts of America, President of the Lions Club in Ira as an Officer in the American Bowling Congress, held various officer positions for the Elks Club, and was the Assistant to the Executive Secretary of TMSCA for twenty-eight years.Known for his dry wit and punctuality, Jerry will be missed by one and all.Jerry Kesner is survived by his wife of fifty-eight years, Jo Nell Kesner; sons Fred Kesner and his wife, Gina, of Fort Worth; Tate Kesner and his wife, Teresa, of Frisco; and Scott Kesner and his wife, Paula, of El Paso. His grandchildren include: Tara Melton, Reagan Kesner, Declan Kesner, Danielle Rohm, Trista Kesner, John Bryan Patten and Travis Patten; as well as great-granddaughters: Alayna Rohm, Rylan Grace Ryan, and Briar Sloan Melton. Jerry is also survived by his sister, Frances Renfroe, of Abilene. Last, but certainly not least, he leaves behind his best buddy: Gibby.Jerry is preceded by his parents, Fred and Pearlie Kesner, and sister Genell Schoech.A memorial service celebrating the life of Jerry Kesner will be held Saturday, August 5th, 2017 at First Christian Church in Breckenridge at 2:00PM under the direction of Melton-Kitchens Funeral Home. Honorary pall-bearers include: Mel Schoech, Warren Ivy, John Bryan Patten, Chris Ryan, Chris Melton, Reagan Kesner and Declan Kesner. A reception and visitation will be held following the ceremony in the undercroft at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes that memorial donations be made in Jerry's name to Hendrick Hospice Center (1651 Pine Street, Abilene TX 79601), or to the . Thank you to the staff at Hendrick Hospice Center for your care and dedication during Jerry's stay.
