Gerald H. Jerry Davis1924 - 2014Gerald H. Jerry Davis, 89, of Paddock Lake, passed away peacefully, with his loving family by his side, Thursday, Jan. 23, 2014, at St. Catherines Hospital.He was born on April 12, 1924, to the late Elmer B. and Mattie Mae Lillian (Jordan) Karls in Black Duck, Minn. He was raised by his mother and his stepfather Lynd Karls. He was educated in the schools of Black Duck.On Sept. 9, 1942 he entered the US Army. He was honorably discharged on Sept. 15, 1945, as a PFC.Jerry married the love of his life Martha E. Sams on May 8, 1943, in Bennetsville, S.C. She preceded him in death on May 23, 2007.Jerry was a truck driver for over 53 years. He retired at the age of 79. He worked for KAT, Dallas Mavis and then worked independently until he retired.Jerry was a member of the Teamsters Union Local #43 and #414.Jerry enjoyed reading Western books, watching Western movies starring John Wayne, and reading his Bible everyday. Jerry loved driving trucks.Jerry is survived by his loving children, Richard E. Davis of Antioch, Douglas A. (Kim) Davis of Grennup, Ill., Danny A. (Pamela) Davis of Bristol, Pamela (Hank) Szymczak of Mechanicsburg, Pa., and Patricia K. Wagner of Paddock Lake; his 11 grandchildren; his 16 great grandchildren; and his brother, Allin (Shirley) Karls of Chico, Calif.A son, David, a granddaughter, Lynn Davis, and his brothers, Roy Davis and Ernie Davis precede him in death.A Celebration of Life for Jerry will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 29 at 6 p.m. at the Bruch Funeral Home. Full Military Honors will follow. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4 p.m. until the time of service.
