Rev. Gerald C. HaldUrbandaleGerald C Hald, 94, passed away at the Urbandale Health Care Center on October 18, 2016. A Celebration service will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, October 22, 2016 at Merle Hay Funeral Home, 4400 Merle Hay Rd in Des Moines, Iowa. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m., Friday, at the funeral home. Gerald was born on September 25, 1922 in Genoa, Nebraska. He married Constance "Connie" Akers on November 8, 1944 in Corpus Christi, Texas.He proudly served in the US Navy during the World War II in the South Pacific.Gerald became an ordained elder of the Church of the Nazarene in 1972. He served his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, as pastor in the Church of the Nazarene across Iowa. Gerald was preceded in death by his loving wife of 70 years, Connie Hald. He is survived by his children: Barry (Monica) Hald, Ronnie (Bonnie) Hald, and Faith (Brian) Donoho; grandchildren: Sarah (Matt) Hamed, Ryan Hald , and Andrew Donoho; Step grandchildren: Heather (Zack) Barber and Tom Donoho; great-grandchildren: Arianna Hamed and Logan Hamed.Because of his heart for missions, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Nazarene Missions, Church of the Nazarene, Global Ministry Center, 17001 Prairie Star Parkway, Lenexa, KS, USA 66220.
