Georgia A. Carlson 1934—2016Georgia Anne (Mellom) Carlson, 82, died on May 8th at Rex Hospital in Raleigh, NC. Georgia moved from Freeport to Seneca, SC., in 1983 and then to Venice, FL. She returned to Clemson, SC., and in 2011, moved to Springmoor Life Care Community in Raleigh, NC. Georgia was born on April 6, 1934, daughter of Darrell & Edith Mellom. Georgia is survived by her daughter, Mindy (John) Uthlaut of Cary, NC and her son, Scott McGill of Phoenix, AZ., her grandchildren, Ashley (Ralph) Giovenco, Emily Uthlaut, Amanda McGill & Derek McGill and 2 great-grandsons, Ralphie Giovenco and Theo Giovenco. She is also survived by her sister, Sara (Bill) Hebble of Hilton Head, SC., and her brother, John (Helen) Mellom of Deerfield Beach, FL., and Freeport, IL. She was predeceased in death by her parents, her brother, David Mellom and her husband, Harold Carlson. A memorial service will be held in the Springmoor Chapel and she will be laid to rest at Chapel Hill Cemetery.
