George "Gene" SchamberMarch 20, 1942 - June 21, 2016George "Gene" Schamber passed away on June 21st, 2016 after a long and courageous battle with Lymphoma. Gene was born on March 20th, 1942 to Harry and Rose Schamber in Pasco Washington. He was the second of four children. In 1945, the family moved to the Treasure Valley where Gene grew up attending different schools around the Nampa and Meridian area. In 1956 the family moved to Notus and ran the local service station. He graduated from Notus High School in 1960. On March 6th, 1964, he married Terri Allred. They went on to have two sons, Shane and Nick Schamber. In 1972, Gene and Terri bought a small acreage in Middleton. He began milking cows as a side business. In 1975, the family moved to a 50 acre farm east of Notus. He would continue to milk cows and raise crops for 16 years all the while working as a bookkeeper for various companies throughout the years to support the farm. Gene and Terri moved to Caldwell and purchased a home where they resided up to the time of his passing. In 1991, Gene and his brother, Tom, purchased Northstar Transport LLC. They ran the company until 2007 when Gene retired. While Gene had many business pursuits, he always found time to enjoy life with his family. He especially enjoyed watching his sons and grandkids compete in sports and was always in attendance for their important school and religious events.In 1996, Gene was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma. Gene's strength and courage was evident throughout this time fighting through pain and discomfort. His courage throughout this battle has been an inspiration to his family, especially the last three weeks of his life.Gene is survived by his wife of 52 years, two sons, three siblings and five grandkids. He was preceded in death by his parents.The family would like to thank all the doctors and nursing staff at MSTI and 4 South St. Luke's Medical Center for the excellent treatment they provided during his many visits to their facilities. Services will take place at Flahiff Funeral Chapel, 624 Cleveland Blvd, Caldwell on Monday, June 27th, at 1:30 pm.
